Quality Assurance

Job Introduction

  • To assist shift technologist to ensure that systems and standards relating to quality and hygiene are maintained and to deliver safe and legal product to the consumer
  • Assist with the introduction and training of new starters into the technical department. Ensure they are made to feel part of the team
  • Member of the quality team, assisting in the maintenance and monitoring of process and food safety systems within the Carlisle sites
  • Key interactions with Operations, Technical and Hygiene to ensure that Production is run safely, efficiently and effectively. 

Main Responsibility

  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and completed on time
  • Ensuring GMP standards within manufacturing areas are upheld 
  • Life checks on factory components.   Entering samples on lims
  • Check and action non-conforming micro-counts or listeria on products 
  • Weekly X- ray emission testing
  • QN T1 T2 weights / Weekly
  • Ensure all relevant internal audits are complete i.e. glass checks, hygiene swabbing, start ups etc
  • Ensure quality issues are communicated at the correct forum to appropriate parties
  • Maintain a safe workplace / environment in line with company policy and rules  
  • Through leadership and example promote and develop standards of safety
  • Complete fail safe checks on metal detectors and X-Ray machines
  • Progress rejects from metal detectors, check weighers, X-Ray etc
  • Carry out temperature and quality checks of materials.  Responsible for Cooling curves 
  • Encourage and assist line Manager to deliver Clean as You Go, to help and coach good GMP 
  • Check weigher and x- ray programming 
  • Taste panel training 
  • Ensure the positive release sign-off on prepared components prior to use in production
  • Take part in any business projects.  Comply with Food Safety Legislation
  • Ensure the proper action is taken in the case of Critical Control Points (CCP) failures

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications/Experience

  • CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety (training will be provided)
  • CIEH Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing (training will be provided)
  • Tier B Metal Detector (training will be provided)
  • Experience of working in a food production or preparation area advantageous

 

Skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Additionally, ability to work with limited supervision, after training
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
