Night Hygiene Manager

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Night Hygiene Manager to join our team in Thetford.

  • This post is working NIGHTS
  • The hours of work and shift patterns are: Mon - Fri 22:00 - 06:00 with a degree of flexibility needed due to the nature of the role.
  • The rate of pay is: £21.67ph (inclusive of night shift allowance) + Benefits + overtime opportunities. 

Main Responsibility

  • To co-ordinate the activities of the team under their control in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the business and maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times.
  • Maintenance of a safe work place through review and compliance to legislation.
  • Ensure the provision of the correct standard of training to complete the tasks with the appropriate protective equipment and cleaning instructions.
  • Ensure customer codes of practice for hygiene are met in full
  • To control and monitor hygiene documentation in line with customer requirements
  • Completion of relevant daily documentation.
  • Continually monitoring all areas to ensure all operatives are following correct procedures and working to CICs
  • Correct use of chemical, utilities and equipment within a budget and in line with set KPI’s
  • To make recommendations to Management Team on measures to improve cleaning performance and quality.
  • Interaction with all departments including Technical, Production, Engineering, Health & Safety and Planning to ensure jobs are carried out correctly & effectively.
  • Involvement in customer audits from unannounced retailer audits to Third Party detailed inspections.
  • Effective communication with suppliers to ensure equipment and cleaning chemicals are delivered on time
  • Liase with the contracted cleaning chemical company to ensure a high level of support and service
  • Conduct investigation and corrective actions of micro failures.
  • Take samples when required (ie water)
  • Provide support and verification for specialist cleaning requirements such are cleaning down after allergen production
  • Ensure cleaning schedules and associated documentation are reviewed and updated as required
  • Development of systems and procedures to ensure accurate records of all work undertaken.
  • Carry out C.OS.H.H. assessments 
  • Carry out risk assessments

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications (desirable)
Advanced Food Hygiene RSH / EHO
Advanced HACCP
IOSH Managing Safely
Internal and or External auditing
COSSHH Assessor
Level 3 management
 

Experience
Minimum 3 years in a Food Manufacturing environment with 1 year poultry desirable
Knowledge of working with Major retailers
Good knowledge of food manufacturing plant machinery and processes
Basic mechanical knowledge and experience
Proven record in BRC and other external audits  
Allergen Awareness
 

Skills
Good attention to detail, able to influence at all levels
Proven leadership and team management skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Proficient IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications
Ability to communicate professionally at all levels from customers and auditors to factory colleagues and company management
Able to work to time deadlines
Self-motivated and highly resilient
Ability to problem solve and influence in a fast paced environment with sometimes conflicting priorities
