2 Sisters Food Group in Scunthorpe has a rare opportunity for external candidates to apply to become Intake Operatives. These sought after roles are generally filled by internal applicants via a waiting list but due to increased demand for product we are now recruiting externally.

Main Responsibilities

As an Intake Operative, you will be working within our Primary (Slaughterhouse) Department handling unprepared birds.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Undertake “hang-on” operations, in line with company and customer standards.
  • Monitor vital signs and be able to follow emergency protocols in case of an Animal Welfare related incident.
  • Report issues directly to Animal Welfare Officer or Department Management as appropriate.
  • Ensure that kill lines are full at all times.
  • Follow Health and Safety guidelines, looking after yourself and your colleagues.
  • Adhere to the strict housekeeping standards expected by the company and its customers.

The Shifts

Intake Operatives work on a rotating shift pattern, AM & PM:

  • AM Shift
    1. Monday: 03:15 – 14:15
    2. Tuesday-Friday: 05:45-14:15
    3. Saturday: 05:45-11:45
  • PM Shift
    1. Monday-Friday 14:10-22:40

The rate of pay is £14.00 per hour, with supplements for unsociable hours on a Monday day shift, plus enhanced pay for Saturdays.

A realistic average weekly gross salary of £621 is achievable if all contracted hours are worked.

The Ideal Candidate

This is a physically demanding role and experience within food manufacturing would be advantageous, but what we are really looking for is:

  • Reliability – Turn up for your allocated shifts and try your best, we don’t ask much more.
  • Flexibility – Overtime may be available/required on occasion, as will a change of duty to meet production requirements…we will never ask you to do anything you have not been trained to do.
  • Teamwork – Work with your colleagues and management, support one another and make everyone’s job easier.
  • Good Work Ethic – Its fast paced here, don’t let your colleagues down.
