Waste Operative

Job Introduction

We currently have opportunities for Waste Operative's to join our team in Thetford

• The hours of work and shift patterns are 4 on 4 off 
• NIGHTS 1800 - 0600 
• Trained Operatives £12.90ph + 10% Night Shift Allowance between 10pm - 6am (£14.19)

To carry out daily waste-handling activities safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with site procedures, legal standards and customer requirements. Support the waste function by keeping areas clean, correctly segregating waste and contributing to recycling and waste-reduction targets

Main Responsibility

• Collect and dispose of all waste streams (including CAT-3) in line with site procedures.
• Carry out waste movements safely using the correct handling methods and required PPE.
• Operate and clean waste equipment such as balers, compactors and bins, following training.
• Keep waste areas clean, tidy and to GMP standards.
• Follow the agreed collection schedule and complete tasks on time.
• Ensure correct segregation to support recycling.
• Report hazards, near misses, equipment issues or non-compliance promptly.
• Take part in required training and keep knowledge of procedures up to date.
• Carry out any reasonable request from the Waste Team Leader to support operations.

The Ideal Candidate

• Basic knowledge of waste handling (or willingness to learn).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Good numeracy skills for recording waste movements.
• Reliable timekeeping and attendance.
• Physically fit for manual handling tasks.
• Flexible and able to adapt to operational needs.
• Desirable: experience with balers/compactors (training provided).
• Basic awareness of Health & Safety (manual handling, PPE).
