Occupational Health Technician

  The hours of work and shift patterns are: Monday to Friday 09:00 -17:00

 

  The rates of pay are: £14.25

Main Responsibility

  • Deliver a range of occupational health surveillance programmes including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, skin assessments, hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) screening, and drug and alcohol testing where applicable.
  • Carry out routine health assessments, including pre-placement health questionnaires and new starter medical assessments, supporting fitness-for-work processes.
  • Accurately record, maintain, and manage confidential employee health records in line with GDPR and medical confidentiality requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate occupational health appointments while maintaining health surveillance databases and producing reports as required.
  • Identify and escalate any abnormal health surveillance findings to the Occupational Health Nurse or Occupational Health Physician.
  • Support the delivery of employee health and wellbeing initiatives, awareness campaigns, and health promotion activities.
  • Ensure occupational health equipment is maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
  • Work in compliance with Health and Safety legislation, Occupational Health standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities to support the ongoing development of Occupational Health services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Occupational Health Nurse, managers, and colleagues to promote a safe, healthy, and productive workplace.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and organised Occupational Health Technician who is passionate about supporting employee health and wellbeing. You will have experience working in an Occupational Health, Healthcare, Health Surveillance, or Health and Safety environment and be confident carrying out health surveillance assessments.

You will also have:

  • An Occupational Health Technician qualification or equivalent.
  • A Certificate in Audiometry and/or Spirometry.
  • Committed to completing the Occupational Health Technician Level 3 qualification (or already hold the qualification).
  • Experience conducting health surveillance programmes, including hearing, lung function, vision, skin, and HAVS assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and experience maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and Occupational Health best practice (desirable).
  • Experience working within manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or other industrial environments (desirable).
