We are looking for an energetic and experienced Multi Skilled Engineer to join our team here at the 2 Sisters Food Group’s flagship site in Scunthorpe.

About The Role

This is a vital role for site operations, carrying out a variety of maintenance, repair and improvement tasks across mechanical, electrical and other disciplines to ensure optimal performance and minimum downtime of equipment and facilities.  

We expect the highest of standards and provide the support and equipment to achieve this.

Working hours are 4 on 4 off, 07:00-19:00/19:00-07:00.

Key Responsibilities

Focus of the role is to ensure minimum downtime for production operations, improving processes wherever possible and ensuring strict adherence to H&S and food hygiene standards.

This will be achieved through;

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose faults and repair a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal downtime and explore options for improvements.
  • Installation of new equipment and systems, ensuring a focus on continuous improvement is high priority.
  • Maintain accurate records using the CMMS system.

About The Candidate

Candidates will need to hold a recognised engineering qualification in either a mechanical or electrical discipline, ideally being time served. Coupled with this we are looking for the following qualities;

  • A strong and demonstratable knowledge of Mechanical systems (Pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, etc) and Electrical systems (motors, control panels, PLCs, etc).
  • Competency and understanding in strip and rebuild in a modular maintenance capacity.
  • Focus on a “right first time” approach.
  • Holds self to the highest standards, highlights areas for corrective action and deals with accordingly and professional.
  • Strong and effective team working skills.
  • A confident communicator, comfortable in attending and engaging in interdepartmental meetings.

Desirable would be;

  • Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.

About The Engineering Team

The Scunthorpe engineering team is a 90 strong, multi-skilled asset that is focused on world class engineering and manufacturing excellence. The engineering department has access to extensive equipment, including a fully kitted fabrication workshop on site.

The immediate team for a Multi Skilled Engineer would consist of 12 individuals, including apprentices and improvers.

The Scunthorpe plant is the jewel in the crown of the UK poultry division. Operating world class, one-of-a-kind machinery and systems to fulfil customer and inter-company requirements.

The site is a full lifecycle operation from kill to pack, processing more than 2 million birds a week across whole bird and cutting functions.

Supplying to a long list of supermarket and restaurant customers our 2000+ workforce operate a core working week of Monday-Saturday.
