Maintenance Electrician / Site Service Engineer

Job Introduction

Come and join us!  We currently have a permanent opportunity for a Site Service Engineer or Maintenance Electrician to join our team in Scunthorpe.

  • This post is working 12 hour days and nights
  • The hours of work and shift patterns are 4 on 4 off 

To be successful within this role you must have the relevant engineering or electrical experience, knowledge and qualifications.

Main Responsibility

  • Ensure all relevant health and food safety standards are always followed, preventing unsafe actions, stopping unsafe behaviours
  • Build and maintain a good working knowledge of plant and equipment maintenance techniques, company products and services, and working practices, to perform the role efficiently and effectively
  • Proactively identify, solve / report concerns around the site, feedback areas for improvement
  • Giving feedback to your colleagues and cross functional learning, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Support the TIER meetings ensuring the site team are kept informed of all potential risks to the production plan.
  • Generation and recording of all activity through departmental systems to support proactive working and traceability, generating follow on work orders and parts requests where necessary.
  • Correct use of stores function with respect to requisition and booking out of parts.
  • Complete all tasks to the highest standard, obtain feedback from peers to improve department performance

The Ideal Candidate

As our ideal Engineer or Electrician you will have:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Apprentice trained
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical discipline
  • The ability to liaise and communicate with all levels of staff, ensuring good working relationships with all other department, planning and organising work to suit all business requirements.
  • To have the forward thinking, enthusiasm, attitude, and the desire to improve your team, department, factory, division and ultimately the business.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis techniques, fix the cause not the symptom
  • Knowledge of 5s standard and implementation
  • IOSH trained
  • 17th or 18th Edition Electrically competent
  • Previous experience within the food industry desirable
  • Boiler management – SOBA / BOAS desirable
  • SIGMA / 5S knowledge desirable
