Hygiene Manager

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Hygiene Manager to join our team in Thetford.

  • This post is working Mon - Fri days 0900 - 1700 with a degree of flexibility needed due to the nature of the role.

Salary £55,120 + Benefits

Main Responsibility

  • Responsible for the performance/efficiency of hygiene operatives and completion of designated tasks.
  • Ensure that customer specifications are met (quality of cleaning standards meets and exceeds expectations).
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed correctly and accurately.
  • Responsible for supporting any relevant audits for hygiene.
  • Responsible for presenting hygiene to customers during visits and audits.
  • Ensuring key performance indicators are achieved for hygiene.
  • Ensuring water usage is kept to a minimum.
  • Adhering to waste segregation rules.
  • To support and actively participate in continuous improvement activities to improve the site performance in all areas of the business.
  • Responsible for completing Tier 1 boards, hygiene sign off sheets and any other relevant documentation.
  • Present hygiene performance data at Tier 1 meetings.
  • To perform project work for Hygiene to ensure that the site is continually reviewing suppliers and practices to ensure efficiencies.
  • Responsible for ensuring chemical stock is maintained.
  • Responsible for ordering all factory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring correct stock levels are maintained at all times.
  • Responsible for running the laundry and leasing with the laundry supplier to ensure consistent and correct quality supply.
  • Budget responsibility and accountability for PPE and laundry.
  • Ensuring adherence to all Company procedures especially hygiene CICs.
  • Actively seek to improve hygiene department performance.
  • Conduct end of hygiene check, to ensure standards of hygiene are maintained.
  • Training of staff to ensure that they are able to conduct their roles efficiently and safely.
  • Responsible for manning/establishments for the hygiene department.
  • Responsible for all human resources related activities for the hygiene department, including (but not limited to) investigations, probationary reviews, appraisals, monitoring attendance, managing annual leave quotas, hearing grievance and disciplinary meetings.
  • Working closely with Engineering team to ensure that Hygiene-related activities do not affect sensitive equipment.
  • Ensure all Return to Works for hygiene are completed with employees on the day of return to site.
  • Responsible for managing the health and safety or all team members and ensuring that employees are working to the required health and safety rules.
  • Ensuring all SAP related activities are completed for the hygiene department.

Qualifications (desirable)
Advanced Food Hygiene RSH / EHO
Advanced HACCP
IOSH Managing Safely
Internal and or External auditing
COSSHH Assessor
Level 3 management
 

Experience
Minimum 3 years in a Food Manufacturing environment with 1 year poultry desirable
Knowledge of working with Major retailers
Good knowledge of food manufacturing plant machinery and processes
Basic mechanical knowledge and experience
Proven record in BRC and other external audits  
Allergen Awareness
 

Skills
Good attention to detail, able to influence at all levels
Proven leadership and team management skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Proficient IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications
Ability to communicate professionally at all levels from customers and auditors to factory colleagues and company management
Able to work to time deadlines
Self-motivated and highly resilient
Ability to problem solve and influence in a fast paced environment with sometimes conflicting priorities
