Front Line Manager - Waste

Job Introduction

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Line Manager to join our Waste department in Thetford

The Waste FLM organise and manages waste disposal, collection, and recycling materials and facilities.

  • This post is working DAYS
  • The hours of work and shift patterns are: Various: 0600 - 1800 (with some flexibility as required)
  • The rate of pay is: £16.40ph + 10% Night Shift Allowance between 10pm - 6am

 

Main Responsibility

The key tasks for the role will include

  • Responsible for the performance and efficiency of waste team leaders and operatives.
  • Ensure close relations are kept with production to minimize waste.  
  • Ensure documentation is completed correctly and accurately.
  • Responsible for making sure the department is compliant with internal and external audits.
  • Ensuring water usage is kept to a minimum.
  • Adhere to waste segregation rules.
  • To support and actively participate in continuous improvement activities to improve the site performance in all areas of the business.
  • Present waste performance data at all relevant meetings.
  • Managing contractors, service and waste haulers. Making sure all relevant documentation is provided and completed to the required standard.
  • Ensure adherence to all company procedures, especially waste disposal standards.
  • Conduct site and departmental audits to make sure all standards are compliant.
  • Responsible for training of new members of staff. Making sure all relevant information and skills are demonstrated in the correct manner and training standard.
  • Responsible for establishment on the shift. Including holidays, absences and shift swap management.
  • Responsible for completing team investigations, probationary reviews, appraisals, monitoring absence levels and annual leave of the team.
  • Ensure that return to work (RTW) files are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of all team members.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The role will require an advanced understanding of waste management coupled with great personnel management skills. The holder of this position will be an effective time manager and maintain and develop waste department performance and supporting documents.
  • The role requires a high level of ability in managing external contractors and waste disposals and close communication and support of the production team.
  • The role will require acting as a deputy for the Environmental Coordinator during periods of absence by attending meetings and (if required) managing planned and unannounced audits.
