This opportunity doesn’t deal with low flying aircraft…but it does deal with low flying chickens! 

The Air Traffic controller role is responsible for planning and coordinating the distribution of chickens around the cutting operation. 

This permanent opportunity attracts an hourly rate of £16.00ph and works on a rotating shift pattern. 06:00-14:30 (Mon-Sat) and 14:30-23:00 (Mon-Fri).

About The Role

The purpose of the role is to ensure that birds of specific weight and size are allocated to the correct line in order to ensure that customer orders are completed in the most efficient way possible. 

As Air Traffic Controller – Bird Distributor, it is your responsibility to ensure that produce is distributed appropriately to match set production specifications 

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and monitor all the chicken entering the cutting room, ensuring it is assigned to the correct product line based on both size and weight. 
  • Monitoring and checking over all orders and packs that come through the system. 
  • Giveaway on retail lines will also need to be tracked to calculate and monitor overall loss on products, will go hand in hand with the tracking of hourly targets.
  • Creation of hourly reports on cutting room activity, allowing for the production process to be monitored closely and precisely to ensure adherence to targets.
  • Tailoring of production to meet set hourly targets, ensure lines are manually changed to fit the specific needs of orders. 
  • Ensuring hourly records for; birds hung, floor waste, line breakdowns, etc are up to date and accurate.

About You

Although experience in a similar role would be highly beneficial, it is not essential. A good working attitude is key, along with the below competencies/experience;

  • Good observational skills
  • The ability to work quickly and efficiently 
  • Excellent team working skills
  • A minimum of level 2 numeracy (Functional Skills level 2 OR GCSE grade C) will be necessary.
  • A good grasp of Microsoft office packages, excel, in particular is essential.
